Safety & Right-of-Way

Safety

Northeast Missouri Electric Power Cooperative (Northeast Power) wants you to be safe around electricity. You handle electricity safely everyday by switching on the lights, your television and other household appliances. But if handled carelessly, electricity can be dangerous. Below, we've provided links with information on how to be safe around electricity at home, on the farm and at work.
Manager of Safety / Environment / Right-of-Way
Northeast Power together, with our Member-Distribution Cooperatives, provides a tabletop safety demonstration to schools throughout our service area. The electrical safety demonstration is a dynamic and interactive presentation targeted for 4th and 5th grade students. Your local Member-Distribution Cooperatives will be making contact with the schools regarding scheduling a demonstration during the school year.
Right-of-Way

We strive to provide reliable, quality service to our Member-Distribution Cooperatives. To do this, we need to properly maintain our right-of-way. We understand the concern that sometimes occurs when trees need to be trimmed or removed along power line corridors. However, with some forethought and good information, we can avoid any conflicts and turn your concerns into win-win situations. Members can plant and maintain landscape trees or shrubs as ornamentals or buffers in manicured areas of yards which overlap with our right-of-way, with prior vegetation department approval, and Northeast Power can provide more reliable service while increasing public and worker safety as partners on a landscape team. We've provided a link below that will help you decide on the yard tree that will meet both our needs.
